The up coming 2024-25 boys hoop season intensifies the same level for Iberville and adds a few more.
White Castle will get the chance to compete at a new gymnasium by the.end of this week while this school; North Iberville is participating in only its first varsity season in more than 15 years.
Walters and Southernbundle are two of the schools in this category; here is a brief look at those two and the rest of the schools in Iberville Parish.
WHITE CASTLE
The Bulldogs will be celebrating Christmas one week early when the officials cut the ribbon for the new gymnasium facility.
The ceremony was earlier scheduled for Dec 18 but the first home game on the list will see WCHS take on La. 1 contender Port Allen on Tuesday January 7. White Castle had a match scheduled against French Settlement for Dec. 20 and against St. James on Dec. 23.
WCHS last played on Dec. 13 and lost a 51-39 game to Livonia.
Players for the 2024-25 Buddy fields 6-7 senior Damorian Burks, 6-0 junior Davon Lewis, 6-2 forward Jermaine Bell 5-11foot-o, 6-1 junior Kollin Foster 5 sophomore Javon Woods, 5-9 year senior Shadrack Allen, 5-9 junior Damon William, and 6-1 junior Dylan Robinson.
NORTH IBERVILLE
It is first varsity season for the boys basketball that have a 3-3 record as of December 17.
The Bears defeated their neighboring opponent, Catholic-Pointe Coupee 51-34. The win ended a two-game skid on the road that saw the Comets lose to St. Charles Catholic 68-41 and Central Private 71-57.
The last game of the season 2024 was at home with Broadmoor which was beyond the press time. North Iberville resumes play in Baton Rouge at Family Christian on January, 6th. Tip-off is 7:15 p.m.
Unfortunately, there was no roster for the Bears at the time of writing this piece.
PLAQUEMINE
Plaquemine’s most recent game was a 60-20 blowout versus East Feliciana and will play at Walker Dec. 17th after this issue ‘s publication and at Parkview Baptist on the 20th.
After taking a week off PHS is back in play Dec. 26 in the Green Devil Christmas Classic. Other teams that were to participate in the tournament are Southside, Opelousas, John ehret, White Castle, Donaldsonville and Thibodeaux.
Including this season are guard Vincent Dawson, senior point guard Freddie Blanchard, Chris Griffin, junior Roderick Binhgam, senior forward Tyren James, and junior forward Jaydon Travis.
ST. JOHN
The Eagles lost a close one on Friday 54-46 at home against Central Private.
A week prior in the St. John Hall of Fame Classic, the Eagles blew passed False River Academy, 67-37, but fell to Ascension Christian of Gonzales, a fellow member of the 8-1A, 86-34.
Top talents for the 2024 Eagles include; Maddox Bennett-scrim, Jonathan Berthelot-scrim a, Ja’Qiuan Jones-scrim, a, Dalwine Beloney-scrim, Luke Prowty-scrim, Jacob Schlatre-scrim and Troy Washington-scrim.
St. John is back in action at home Dec 20 against North side Christian and Berchman’s Academy at 2 pm on saturday.
SJHS resumes its operation after the Christmas holidays as the Eagle heads to LaPlace for confrontation on Saturday 28th December at Riverside Academy. Tipoff is 4 p.m.
It takes St. John home today at the 3:00 PM for the final game of the year 2024 against Hanson Memorial.
EAST IBERVILLE
The Tigers opened their season on 4-0 defeated Idea Bridge, Covington, Amite and Independence but in tournament at Central they played 1-2, losing 58-37 to St. Michael and 71-48.
Broadmoor threatened to write off EIHS but a 57-45 result saw EIHS get back on the right track.
Fresh candidates for the Tigers are the 6-0 K.D. Dixon, Allen Hubbard the 6-1 point guard, Maurice Davis point guard, and Michael Bourgere the 5-8 point guard.
The tigers have the next match on the Jan. 8, own tourney; opening at International High School of New Orleans.
Other tourney action will be against St. Martin’s Episcopal on January 9th, L.W Higgins on January 10th and Franklinton on January 11th.
