The WIAA state football playoffs resume on Friday and there are eight schools in each of the four classifications (4A-1B) still with a shot at a Gridiron Classic championship to be played December 6 & 7 at Husky Stadium.
Here is a quick Class 3A primer for quarterfinal action around the state of Washington:
CLASS 3A (Brackets) Quarter Finals
Kennewick 9-2 at Bellevue 10-0, 3 p.m. Saturday Bellevue H.S
From the Metro League: Mount Tahoma (7-4) will face O’Dea (10-0) @ 7:00 PM, Friday @ Memorial Stadium in Seattle.
Lincoln of Tacoma(9-2)game against Eastside Catholic (9-1), 2 P.M, Sat ,Memorial Stadium Seattle
Roosevelt/T Cri 7-3 at Seattle Prep/T Cri 7-3, 5:00 p.m., Sat., Mem’l Stdm, Seattle
Most intriguing matchup: Most teams sit playing Sea-King District opponents in early March. It is not Kennewick the city that takes pride in forcing its tough attitude on other regional councils – and this time it is Bellevue that is concerned. They played a very tight Class 3A title game in 2021 the first time around.
Upset potential: Seattle Prep defeated No. 4 seed Lakes and has faced Roosevelt in 3A Metro League play, yet lost 36-22. The Panthers are state tournament’s feel-good story in their first quarterfinals since 1991; co-league MVP Beau Oaksmith at quarterback.
Moving on to WIAA semifinals: The schools include Bellevue, O’Dea, Eastside Catholic, Roosevelt
