Bloomfield town officials report a student-athlete who had died in practice during a football game.
“It is with deepest regret and sorrow that the Bloomfield School District has lost one of our own at such a young age,” added the interim superintendent and town manager for the Town of Bloomfield in a joint statement.
The student-athlete participated in high school starting freshman’s year at Bloomfield High School then moved to Manchester High School.
The unnamed student was part of the Bloomfield Junior Warhawk Football Team and collapsed during an evening practice on Nov. 27. “He was beyond resuscitation, this was confirmed by staff and the emergency medical team,” added town authorities.
To pull through this period of grief, town officials encourage the community to reach out to others in the town. Looking at the abovementioned factors, all we extend our proposal to join together and not stay alone with this grand loss. We would like to forcefully state that all students, staffs and families should ask for help and to draw strength from one another.
Counseling services will be organize at both Bloomfield High School and Carmen Arace Middle School.
Local authorities are in touch with the family so as to arrange the befitting send off for the student and they have urged the public to refrain from intruding into the family compound as they sort out mourning for the loss of their loved one.
