Florida State University punter Alex Mastromanno has been considered the one of the ten semifinalists for this year’s Ray Guy Award given to the most outstanding punter in the country by the Augusta Sports Council .
The national best average of 48.9 yards has been set by Mastromanno ahead of the second best national average of 474 yards per punt. The redshirt senior has made 48 punt attempts and has notched 2,347 punt yards. To highlight, 26 of those punts have gone beyond 50-yard line, sixteen have been downed within the 20-yard line and there has only one touch back.
Mastromanno of New Mexico has made 26 punts of 50 or more yards, more than any other player in the country.
The Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, national media, and prior Ray Guy Award recipients will elect three award finalists to be declared on Tuesday, November 26. The voting body will then vote again in order to decide the winner of the Ray Guy Award. The grand prize winner will be revealed during the live broadcast of The Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN Thursday December 12.
