The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has revealed that Premier League clubs will henceforth retain all the proportionate of revenue collected from gates for the Premier League games for the 2024-2025 season.
This is a bid to offer funding to clubs who source most of their revenue from match day sales.
This coming after a meeting that was held at the beginning of the season that involved the GFA President Kurt Okraku together WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE CLUBS IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE WITH EQUAL DISCUSSION ON WAYS TO ENHANCE THE LEAGUE AND SUBSEQUENTLY REDUCE FINANCIAL BURDEN ON CLUBS.
Of the various options discussed, the ability of clubs to retail full net gate proceeds was among the critical solutions and enjoyed the support of the clubs.
The clubs have embraced this move thinking it is a positive development and can also help them solve not only financial problems but also bring fans back to the stadia.
The GFA reaffirmed its pledge to support the Premier League and called on clubs to take responsibility themselves to market their individual fixtures and open their gates as they now have the incentive to generate their own revenue.
During a previous Congress, President Okraku noted that GFA wants to add more fans to league activities.
With this new policy, the GFA believes that it will be able to support club’s strategies to attract fans to attend their matches and ultimately foster the development of excellent match day experiences in every corner of the country.
